Truck Unloading System and Tank Farm – Fort St John, BC

Issue

Our customer purchased a new production field with many oil wells and satellites that were not connected by flowlines. The cost of trucking 200 kms to the nearest point of sale was expensive and not an efficient long term solution for our client.

Solution

Reef installed an AER Directive 17 compliant emulsion unloading and metering skid and tank farm at one of the customer’s nearby existing oil treater facilities. As a result, the client had only to truck an average of 15 kms instead of 200 kms, which translated into savings of approximately $300,000 per year.

Reef sourced a virtually new metering skid from an Alberta testing services company that had an excess of new inventory. We also sourced three brand new 750 barrel tanks from a distressed producer in the area. Reef designed and constructed the facility integration including the tank farm, spill containment, pumping system and E&I requirements.
